Welcome to your home’s transformation journey.
I’m Gemma, and I am so happy that you’re here!
For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for designing and decorating spaces; now, I would love to help you create a space that truly speaks to you.
Coming out of school I had no idea what career path I wanted to take, however, the pressure to have all your ducks in a row and to have life all figured out was definitely present. The idea of helping people is something I strongly believe in, and in today's society, I felt that I wanted my focus to be aimed at mental health. As a result, I went on to pursue a postgraduate degree in psychology (B.Sc Hons).
As I neared the end of my studies, I was often asked “Where to next?” While I knew that I still wanted to help other people, I could recognize that I lacked a spark for future prospects within this field. In my mind I knew where my passion lay - what my ultimate dream job was - I just didn't think it was realistic to get there. The thought of starting over and falling behind the stage that my friends were at, not knowing where to start, and realizing what it would take to get to where I wanted to be, all began to overwhelm me. Yet here I am.
At the age of 22-years-old, I packed up my life in South Africa and hopped on a plane across the world, not knowing what to expect. After work I spent my evenings working through courses, watching interior decorating Youtube videos, paging through Home Magazines, and trying to learn the ins and outs of different software. My journey getting to this point has not been easy; there have been many challenges, frustrations, and obstacles to overcome. However, I have been surrounded by an incredible support system and strong female figures who have offered me guidance, reminded me of what I am capable of, and left me feeling empowered and confident.
Years later, having combined my degree in psychology with my knowledge of interior design, I am able to gauge how colours, furnishings, textures, and lighting may all influence one’s mood and mental health. Let’s take the next step together and create an external environment that promotes your internal well-being.
I can’t wait to share the next part of this journey with you.
